King’s Church Edinburgh

“POD started at King’s many years ago. It’s so wonderful to see how God has used it to equip our own church and subsequently many other churches. POD has helped bring clarity for those exploring faith, instruction in the essentials of Christian discipleship and life in the Spirit. Also, POD for Small Group Leading has been such a helpful tool in proactively developing potential home group leaders which we have used repeatedly to great effect. The POD programme has helped our church orient more effectively towards discipleship and mentoring.”

“We have found the POD resources to be an excellent first step for those who are new to the Christian faith. Our Pastors and volunteers use this resource predominantly with people who have responded to the gospel for the first time. However, we have also used it for those who are unsure about Jesus and really open to ask questions and learn more. We have found it to be a really helpful tool in discipling others. Guy has been a joy to partner with and his training and ongoing support throughout have been fantastic! I would highly recommend engaging with this tool.”

Grace Church Glasgow

“POD has been an excellent tool for helping people explain the gospel and lead their friends through the early days of faith. People at a variety of stages in their Christian life have been able to use the easy-to-follow steps that are saturated in scripture to faithfully make disciples of Jesus. We will definitely keep encouraging people to use POD in groups and in one-to-ones!”

“Taking someone through POD who has not yet invited Jesus into their life is so encouraging. Hearing how the course gives them understanding and clarity of his word and impacts their whole thinking, learning how his word is put into practise in all things every day. It's life transformation and realisation right there. Ever since this was presented to our church it has done exactly what it said on the tin! It's the path of disciples that makes disciples. From leading three in each of my first two groups, we had four people leading their own with between two and three in each of their groups. A brilliant tool that helps churches make disciples that make disciples and help grow new leaders. POD is an excellent tool that not only helps you lead a group of new and mature Christians but allows you to use as a one to one with a friend or neighbour who wants to explore God at a pace that suits them.

One of the great things I've noticed after leading POD a few times now is that although the text and questions are the same each time you go through it, it is never the same, the questions that are asked and personal testimonies being shared open up a whole new path that always encourage, strengthen and comfort others in the group. After leading POD a few times now, I have always come away encouraged, no two POD groups are the same and I even find myself growing and being equipped each time. Also, there is an element of vulnerability that God turns into confidence as people openly share. I am truly amazed how Holy Spirit speaks, leads and personally accommodates each person through POD.

POD is such a great tool for people wanting to explore Christianity and finding out about some of the who’s and why’s about God, and also the mature Christian who might have felt “stuck in a rut”, and are brought back to a foundation that can restrengthen and re-ignite their walk with Jesus.”

“I have seen the Path of Disciples Course, pioneered by Guy, emerging as a long- awaited tool for use in any local church to equip the saints for works of everyday discipleship ministry. This material is approachable, helpful to build a foundation of anyone’s faith in Jesus Christ, allowing space for questions to be asked about life and taking individuals all the way from unbelief, but interested, through to a place of servant-hearted maturity in their local church. POD enables individuals not only to become well rounded disciples of Jesus but also go on to become disciple makers or ‘fishers of men’ themselves with confidence until both being a disciple and disciple making becomes every day, expected, comfortable and normal. You will find POD strongly Biblical, easy to journey with, embed and follow through, with its emphasis on prayerful reliance on the work of the Holy Spirit in people’s lives as they step out to live out the principles described. The leader’s guide empowers those who want to take the next step in training others in their church or situation, all with Guy standing by to help, assist, empower and advise, who is himself a fun-loving yet prolific evangelist, serving and rooted in his local church living out every sentence in the POD course through his gifting for raising up and discipling many sons and daughters in their walk with Jesus Christ, and demonstrating that disciple making is the joy and thrill Jesus always intended it to be.”

“The Church has been assigned a great mission - to make disciples of all the nations. POD is a tool that can be used to help accomplish this challenging task. The material is designed to lead people to see the need for discipleship and then to become someone who follows Christ in all aspects of their life. POD has been fruitful in Edinburgh and it has now been used extensively in Scotland amongst people from all corners of the globe. I have seen that it has been of great value in India. POD builds on the experience of Guy's Spanish programme that has been used for 30 years in Colombia and Ecuador as well as in Peru where Guy was a missionary for twelve years. POD has been translated into Mandarin and certainly has the potential to assist the Church globally in fulfilling its Great Commission to make disciples. I recommend that you consider POD when next looking for material to build up those in your church.”

"I've used the POD course with several people who were either new Christians or seekers, and have found it to be really effective in nurturing people in the essentials of the Christian faith. I highly recommend POD as a resource for fulfilling Christ's command of making disciples."

“Over the last 5 years our church has done multiple Bible study courses to mixed degree of success. We having been using POD over the last year to ground all our new believers in the fundamentals of the Christian faith and help them move from convert to committed disciple. POD fits that gap for us and is exactly what we needed. We now use POD for our whole church and have implemented it into our pathway of making disciples. This is an excellent resource and would highly recommend it to your discipleship toolbox.”
